I'm not saying if you're single you shouldn't find interest and attractions in your online circles. Social media mimicks social networking in real life. So it's a given that there will be more than a few love connections taking place, even outside of dating sites. What I'm suggesting is that online, perhaps even more than offline, you should consider etiquette, chivalry and good manners because you don't have the benefit of in person magnetism. Here's a list of things that annoy me with guys who attempt to court me after meeting me online. image 1. I don't know you, and haven't looked you in the eye, so don't say "trust me." 2. Don't ask me to send you pictures, you can look at me all day on any given profile. 3. Don't stalk my p...

I caught this recent Mashable article about Klout on Twitter "How to Improve Your Klout Score — and Why You Should Bother" image News flash: Being mindful of your influence is not the same as being mindful of a an external score. There are multiple ways to determine quality influence. In the old days we just did surveys... oh wait, there's an app for that. If all you care about is numbers... and you don't really care what your audience is gaining from you,  or who is growing, surviving and touching others because of you, I can't help you. How do I know the scores and the websites they are based on are flawed? Because I'm a researcher and I pay attention and get to the heart of a matter without being emotional. I watch, I as...

Offline poster from my nephews folder.
We like these in ground time too. How we live offline is how we live online... to a certain extent. This is an offline graphic from my nephews folder. Pondering the humor in that folks think everything is a #SocialMedia trend. Humans do the same things #online that they do in #groundtime. When you do something in ground time and no one knows; you magnify by posting online. If a tree falls in the forest and no one heard it, don't post it on Facebook if you don't want it magnified and exploited. Furthermore Facebook does not have a 911 feature. When posting, chances that you will reach a paramedic, fireman, police officer or life coach are slim to none. If you're posting to Facebook instead of dialing 911, the ER or your therapist, ...

A Good Day To XeeMe | It's their 2 year anniversary Happy Birthday XeeMe. My XeeMe love story started October 30, 2011. I'm pretty sure I found it through my friends on Empire Avenue. I've began using XeeMe as a signature, a business card, a QR code, a catalogue, an index, and even a Twitter tool. In honor of XeeMe's 2nd year I have written a brief overview of how I use my profile and the clever name. "Oh no, not another social network!" This is a sentiment heard most often whenever a new  social media site launches or when people hear about another must have website. I've felt this way a time or two myself. But not since I discovered XeeMe, an online profile manager that allows you to organize all of your important l...

Do your research and be creative when you are ready to launch your brand. Don't try to ride on existing traffic, influence and people who are using generic concepts. Lawsuits are rampant and it shows a lack of integrity, ingenuity and true social entrepreneurship to try and sue an individual or business for using a term that is owned by the public... Especially when it's obvious that people were using that term long before you decided to jump into the world of business. It makes you look inexperienced and desperate. I would not trust my business to a company that does that, would you? We've been using this term since I can remember. I'm sure I can find older references, but this is the one that popped up first.
We all know that many of ...

Maybe you are a technical genius or maybe you just have Cadillac taste and Volkswagen money when it comes to making your technology, Ecommerce and Online dreams come true. So even if you were the coolest kid in school or you flunked computer science, you may have found yourself more in the category of geek than not because of your needs and because of how easy it is not to do it yourself... to a certain extent. You've heard of Klout, Kred and PeerIndex; and if not than you are a little behind; but anyway meet Geekli. It's in private BETA now and if you are reading this blog then all you have to do is let me know you want an invite. I am limiting the invites because many people are complaining about watered down votes an...

From Evernote:

Have You Been Hacked Yet?

I'd like to think the reason I've never been hacked on FB or via email is because I'm so smart. But actually there are some simple steps you can follow to lessen your chances of exposing your friends to dangerous sites, bogus information and fraudulent offers.
  1. Have you changed your password recently? Do it now.
  2. Do you use the same password across various websites? Change your email password so it's different.
  3. Is your password complex (letters, symbols and numbers)? Fix it.
  4. Do your browse FB securely? Start doing so. Even if you take it off for an app, put it back.
  5. Have you ever even visited the security section under account settings? No time like the present. No gift, product, opportunity or service is bestowed without the burden of responsibility. Consumer, user and social responsibility are implied contracts of use. When you have a checking account it is assumed you won't participate in fraud, or your account will be closed even if you weren't the culprit. When you own a swimming pool it is assumed you will have boundaries so neighborhood children will not fall in and drown. If you do not protect your neighbors you will be sued and you will be held liable. Likewise when you are on the Internet, creating profiles and adding friends there is a psychological contract that you enter into. It is understood that you will not conduct fraudulent activity nor will you make it easier for others to do so through you. It only takes a moment to vet a new friend, or find out about a site before you share your personal information and download links. Maintaining Facebook privacy is not something that takes a lot of effort. Visit your profiles, clean up your accounts and delete phony profiles from your friend list. Remember only you can prevent Internet Terrorism.

SugarFreeCoach on Klout Oh no, according to Klout my score dipped 0.05 points because peeps in my network lost influence. That means someone fell off. But now with the new features I know who it is. Don't leave people hanging. It's easy to write social media off as unimportant, but there are real people on the other end of those tweets, posts and blogs. Did you start something and not finish it? You know who you are. You made it into my circle of influence because you were doing something special. Now you are either not doing it anymore, not promoting it or not communicating with your audience. If you need help feel free to respond in the comments section, tweet me or post to my FB page. If you feel that your needs are more complex and you would like...

You've learned some great skills, tips, and tricks to navigating Social Media; but sometimes you might get carried away. Here's a great tip to add to your arsenal. Cool sites come and go, pick a few solid ones and post across sites to reach a larger network. But make your content real and relevant. This will require a bit of transparency, as no one wants to only read about one aspect of your life (i.e. only foursquare check-ins, Facebook posts or game results). Include a bit of business, social, travel, education, and fun; also mix text, links, video and photos. But again don't over do it. Posting every step in your schedule, every travel plan and every detail of your life is unsafe and boring. Check your compiled social profile on Klout o...

If you’ve been following The Social Entrepreneur or TXNL since the beginning then you may remember my warning in 2008 to watch out for Microsoft and where they were going with social media.

We have had to learn some web 2.0, html, css, widgetology, feedology, linkology, SEO, and API in order to make social ends meet over the past few years but those days are coming to a close thanks to companies like Microsoft and Google who recognize the demand of social media and micro blogging. Now instead of jumping from site to site and adding extra code to tweet a blog. You can pretty much link all your sites together and post one time.

Facebook, MySpace, even Google run sites now fully synced with Live. Do you have multiple identities? Not persona...
